Island home

ISLAND HOME.
I don’t know where you are living at this time but right at this moment, as I write this, there is a hopeless child sleeping on his unfamiliar bed. Ragged bed. Torn beddings. Freezing .Dreaming of sipping hot tea in this blue mug. His clothes rigor-mortised from Gikomba. It may not look like it makes sense to you now but it does to those that understand what am trying to say. If your life in streets was anything like what am trying to draw, then you can easily imagine what it feels like. Sleeping on an empty stomach. Sheltered in corridors of Nairobi. Covered by polythene papers to prevent drops of rain. No place to call a home. Drinking sewage water to fight this brutal thirst that don’t care about hygiene. Street life is a sea of peculiar and unnerving scenes.

There is this issues that always hits my mind whenever I pass through this streets in Nairobi. Every day I meet a street kid armed with his equipment ready to start his/her daily life. Stand in streets and ask for money .It’s shameful to our government that is busy struggling to kill each other over citizens’ money instead of investing the money in such issues. Like starting something useful that will benefit the street families and also the country .We are not so different with South Africa, Ethiopia and other countries that are focusing on important issue concerning the development of the country. Its time Kenya to see the important of such people in the society. This families are unique in many ways it’s only that misfortunes lynched their dreams.Among this street kids we have musicians, politicians, intellectuals people.

We are all different .Experiencing different things in life. Street life is close to hell. I don’t know about rich people’s life but if you have tasted this street life then you are in a better position to understand how it feels like. Yearning to that day that this politicians will be honest with us during  this campaign of 2017.The public don’t require to be bribed for one to be voted into the government. They deserve peace. Straight forward politicians. People who understand examined life. Life of change. Life from being a third world countries. We need development and this may be from this street families that look onto us for help. This is the real lifestyle that our country need.
